Q & A with a Veteran Tutor

Event Location:
Kreeger Learning Center (CAC)
Students working together at tutor training

The Learning Centers provide training sessions throughout the semester for any academic peer leader at Rutgers (tutors, study group leaders, peer instructors, learning assistants, etc.). LC tutors and learning assistants are required to participate in at least two of these sessions, in addition to the initial New Peer Leader Training. If you work as an academic peer leader for another program at RU, you are also welcome to participate in our trainings. Each training session will address a specific topic and will involve activities and group discussion.

The purpose of the in-service is for new tutors to meet in a group with other new tutors, facilitated by a “master” tutor to discuss common issues that arise during the tutoring sessions.  Examples would be students wanting a tutor to do the homework problems, students who come unprepared, or students who are disruptive.  The master tutor in turn will bring common issues to discuss as well.

To register for this training session, visit our workshop registration page.

If you have any questions regarding the training sessions, please contact Stacey Blackwell.
