Apply Now for the Aresty Research Assistant Program

The application period for the 2015-2016 Research Assistant program is now open. This year, the Aresty Center is hosting 250 research projects across Rutgers-New Brunswick. Interested students can find opportunities to support professors working on cutting-edge research in the science, social sciences, humanities, and arts. Through this program, professors submit descriptions of their current projects to the Aresty Center. Students can browse our database and submit applications to up to three projects. Professors will then review applicant materials and conduct interviews with promising students. The Aresty Center then matches finalists to specific projects.

The Research Assistant is designed to make the process of joining a research project more transparent to undergraduates. Students can see descriptions of projects, applicant responsibilities, and prerequisites for applying, to help them make informed decisions about which type of project will suit them best. Accepted students will be required to do 5 hours per week of research during the 2015-2016 academic year (though many students do more for credit), and will attend bi-monthly peer discussion group meetings at the Aresty Center to support them through the research process and equip them to present that Undergraduate Research Symposium in April 2016.
