Stacey Blackwell, Senior Director
Stacey Blackwell earned her M.A in English from The College of New Jersey, her Ed.M. in the Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education from Rutgers University, and her B.A. in English with a minor in Spanish and concentration in Education from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. After teaching English and composition courses at several PA and NJ colleges and universities, Stacey returned to Rutgers in 2011. She worked as the Director of Training, Outreach, and Academic Coaching before becoming the Senior Director of the Rutgers Learning Centers & Math and Science Learning Center. She also co-teaches the pedagogy course (Peer Instruction Education) required for all first-semester learning assistants.
Mary Ann Cancio, Director of Operations and Direct Academic Support
Mary Ann Cancio earned her Ed.M. from Rutgers University and her B.A. from Rutgers College, Rutgers University. She holds a Certificate in Supervisory Management, NJ Certified Public Manager Program, Department of Personnel, State of NJ. Mary Ann has over 30 years experience in Higher Education in both Student Affairs and Academic Support. Before coming to Rutgers in 1996, Mary Ann worked at St. Peter's College from 1980 - 1982, and The College of NJ from 1982 - 1996. Mary Ann currently directs the Academic Peer Tutoring Program for the Rutgers Learning Centers.
Karen Collingwood, Administrative Coordinator, College Avenue Learning Center
Karen Collingwood has been working at Rutgers since 1988. She is the Administrative Coordinator of the Kreeger Learning Center and she is responsible for scheduling all writing appointments, as well as managing center personnel, maintenance, and administration. She also handles space management and communications for the Center.
Samantha Feaser, Administrative Coordinator, Livingston Learning Center
Samantha Jones Feaser earned her B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University in 2011. While completing her undergraduate degree Samantha tutored privately and worked in HR. She returned to Rutgers in May 2012 and became the Administrative Assistant and the Supervisor at the Kreeger Learning Center and is now the Administrative Coordinator of the Livingston Learning Center. Through her position, Samantha is developing her Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Development, and Staff Development skills. She is currently pursuing her masters for an Ed.M in Educational Leadership through the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.
Aisha Huggins-Smith,Developmental Specialist of Training Programs
Aisha Huggins-Smith earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the School of Engineering in 2010, and her Ed.M. in Mathematical Education from the Graduate School of Education in 2016, both at Rutgers University. Over the course of the past 6 years, Aisha has had the opportunity to serve as a tutor, peer mentor, counselor, academic coordinator, academic coach and course instructor for the Rutgers student population, as well as for local communities. Since 2012, she has taught the Methods of Inquiry for Engineers course for the School of Engineering - a course focused on various aspects that contribute to student development of skills that can enhance their personal, academic and professional experiences. Aisha also previously served as an Academic Coach for the Learning Centers from February 2015 – August 2016, working with a variety of student populations. She will be teaching a section of the pedagogy course (Peer Instructor Education) required for all first-semester learning assistants.
Sari Katzen, Program Coordinator for STEM Support
Sari Katzen earned her M.S. in Biology from the College of Staten Island in 2015 and her B.A. in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University in 2013. Sari is the Program Coordinator for STEM Support. She has worked at the Learning Centers since fall 2012 as a Learning Assistant for Physics 193/ 194, as an Academic Coach in the Rutgers Learning Centers, and as the Program Coordinator for the NSF-funded project: Preparation in STEM Leadership (PSL). Lucille Lu, Developmental Specialist
Lucille Lu earned her Ed.M in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University, and her B.A. in Economics also at Rutgers University. She is currently pursuing her Ed.D at the Graduate School of Education in Education, Culture & Society. Lucille oversees academic coaching and workshops at the Rutgers Learning Centers, and also works closely with the writing coaching program. In addition, she teaches a section of the pedagogy course (Peer Instruction Education) required for all first-semester learning assistants.
Anna Sandberg, Administrative Coordinator, Cook/Douglass Learning Center
Anna Sandberg graduated from Rutgers University in 2013 with a B.A. in Italian and European Studies and a minor in Organizational Leadership. Prior to joining the Rutgers Learning Center team, she worked at Rutgers as an Office Assistant in the Office of Disability Services and as the Administrative Assistant of the Department of Germanic, Russian, and East European Languages and Literatures. Anna is currently pursuing her masters of education in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education with a concentration in higher and international education at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.
Alice Seneres, Director of Integrated Academic Support
Alice Seneres is earning her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Teachers College, Columbia University; her dissertation research compares the classroom learning environments of the hybrid and traditional course formats. She has earned her M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University and her M.S. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. After working as an engineer for Hewlett-Packard for several years, she returned to higher education as a Teaching Instructor of Mathematics at Rutgers University, and was awarded one of the 2015 SAS Awards for Distinguished Contributions to Undergraduate Education. She was a Fulbright scholar in Germany before becoming the Director of Integrated Academic Support Programs for the Rutgers Learning Centers.
Topher Sutton, Departmental Administrator
Topher Sutton graduated from Rutgers College with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Psychology, and obtained his Master’s in Education from the College Student Affairs program at Rutgers University. He served as a Residence Director at The College of New Jersey for three years before returning to Rutgers to serve as a Program Coordinator for Student Support Services. He is joining the Learning Centers as Departmental Administrator, and is very excited about bringing his positive attitude and creativity to help the Learning Centers continue to run effectively and ultimately have more students utilize their resources.
Dr. Shawn Taylor, Director of Assessment and Writing Coaching
Shawn Taylor earned his D.Ed. in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University, and his M.A. in Labor Studies and Employment Relations from the School of Management and Labor Relations also at Rutgers University. Shawn directs the Writing Coaching Program, oversees assessment of learning center programs.
